“What The…” (Is Going On In Washington) – Bob Withers
I heard this in the excellent …Next Stop Is Vietnam (The War On Record: 1961-2008) compilation. It’s a country/folk protest song about Vietnam. I would have thought it’s lyrical content and the easy ability to add the word “Fuck” to the title would have made this as popular Country Joe & The Fish, but it seems to have been lost to the ages. All I found is a one sentence comment about it in Billboard Magazine. It was released as a single in 1966 and included on the previously mentioned compilation in 2010.
